Tank interior blasting and linings, done to the data sheet.
A lining is only as good as the blast under it. Caddo Tank Blasting preps tank interiors to near-white with the profile verified, runs real confined-space discipline, and applies linings the manufacturer will stand behind.
How an interior job runs
- Scope and entry plan. Tank service, last contents, manway access, and the confined-space plan written before anyone opens a hatch.
- Clean and de-gas. Product residue out, atmosphere tested, ventilation running. Produced-water and fuel tanks get the respect their vapors demand.
- Blast to SP 10 near-white. Interior linings bond to nearly bare steel or they do not bond; commercial-grade shortcuts are how linings peel in year two.
- Hold the blast. Dehumidification or immediate first coat keeps flash rust off the profile in Louisiana air.
- Line per the data sheet. Thickness, recoat windows, and cure per the manufacturer, with readings recorded and handed over.
The tanks that need this most
Produced-water tanks on Haughton and Mansfield batteries, where salt water works on bare steel around the clock. Potable tanks on water systems, where the lining is a health standard and NSF-listed systems are the only legal choice. And fuel ASTs along the I-20 corridor, where an interior in good order is what stands between product and steel.
Safety is the second product
Interior blasting is permit-required confined space work under the OSHA confined spaces standard, and we run it that way on every entry: tested atmospheres, attendants, rescue planning, and ventilation sized to the work. A contractor who shortcuts entry procedure will shortcut your profile readings too; the discipline travels together.

Interior questions, answered straight
What does tank interior blasting cost?
Interior prep to SSPC-SP 10 near-white runs $6 to $12 per square foot around the Shreveport area, with the range driven by access, ventilation and dehumidification needs, and how much old lining has to come off first. Lining application prices with the system specified. The published rate sheet on our cost page carries the numbers our quotes are built from.
Why does an interior blast cost more than an exterior?
Because a tank interior is a confined space with its own physics: entry procedures and attendants, forced ventilation, lighting, abrasive recovery from inside the shell, and usually dehumidification to hold the blast until the lining goes on. Same steel, much more setup, and the honest rate reflects it.
Do you follow confined space entry rules?
Yes, without exception: permit-required confined space procedures per the OSHA standard, atmosphere testing, attendants, and rescue planning appropriate to the entry. Interior work is where tank contractors earn or lose their reputation for safety, and no lining is worth a shortcut in a shell.
Why did my last tank lining fail early?
Most early lining failures trace to prep, not product: a blast short of SP 10, profile outside the data sheet range, flash rust or amine blush under the first coat, or humidity during cure. That is why we verify profile with a gauge, control humidity when the window demands it, and record the readings. The lining vendor’s warranty depends on that file.
Interior and exterior scopes usually travel together; see the production tank page and water tank page for the outside half, the rate sheet for every number, and the homepage for the whole operation.
