The pad scope, piece by piece
Tank battery exteriors
Crude, condensate, and produced-water tanks blasted to SP 6, then recoated with a sun-rated epoxy or epoxy-urethane system. Tanks rotate out of service one at a time on your pumper’s schedule while the pad keeps producing. A 500-barrel tank runs $2,500 to $6,000, and a full battery brings the per-tank number down.
Produced-water and SWD tanks
These are the hardest-working tanks on any lease because they corrode from both sides at once. The exterior gets the standard treatment. The interior is where the money is: lining-grade SP 10 prep with the profile verified, so the lining vendor’s warranty survives its first inspection.
Separators, treaters, and vessels
Heater-treaters, separators, and pressure vessels get blasted and coated along with the tanks on the same mobilization. Insulated vessels get scoped honestly, because jacketed steel hides its condition, and we say plainly what we cannot see until the jacket comes off.
Compressor stations
Stations bring us pipe, skids, coolers, and building steel, worked between runtime windows with containment planned around whatever stays live. A station scope prices per square foot off the published sheet.
Pump jacks and lease steel
Jack frames, catwalks, stairs, and containment walls ride along with tank work on the same trip. Lease steel is cheap to coat and expensive to replace, and that gap is the whole argument for doing it.
Legacy and stripper leases
Tanks from the Caddo-Pine Island era get assessed before they get quoted. Sound steel gets blasted and coated. Steel pitted past minimum wall gets flagged to your inspector instead of painted over, and the verdict arrives in writing whichever way it goes.
Why battery math favors doing the whole pad
Mobilization is the fixed cost of lease work. Getting the rig, the abrasive, and the containment out to a pad costs about the same whether one tank gets blasted or five, so a trip that covers the full battery drops the per-tank number by a third or more. The published sheet carries a battery rate for exactly that reason. Most operators around Haughton and Mansfield have settled into working it this way, with tanks rotating out of service so production never stops.
The honest assessment rule
Blasting reveals steel, and sometimes what it reveals should not be recoated. A tank pitted past its minimum wall belongs with your API 653 inspector and a welder before it belongs with us, and when we see that condition we put the verdict in writing. Painting over a wall-thickness problem only looks cheaper until the next coating cycle finds the same problem bigger, so we would rather send a tank to the welder than sell it a coat of paint.

Around the Shreveport and Haynesville area, a standard 500-barrel tank exterior runs $2,500 to $6,000 blasted and coated. Full batteries come in at $2,000 to $4,500 per tank, because one mobilization covers the whole set. If a produced-water tank needs interior lining prep, that runs $6 to $12 per square foot. Can you blast tanks without shutting in the wells?
Yes. Standard battery practice is to take tanks out of service one at a time, coordinated with your pumper, while the rest of the battery keeps taking production. Hot-work permits and the operator’s site rules set the sequence. The pad never stops earning while the steel gets done.
Do you meet operator contractor and safety requirements?
Yes. We carry liability certificates issued to the operator, keep hot-work and containment procedures in writing, hold H2S awareness for sites that post it, and sign in with the pumper on arrival. Send your compliance list with the RFQ and the paperwork comes back attached to the quote.
Why are first-generation Haynesville tanks failing now?
Most battery tanks set between 2008 and 2015 got a single factory coat and have stood in Gulf humidity ever since. A single-coat system is past its design life at that age almost everywhere in the play, which is why rust bloom keeps showing up on tanks that looked fine a year ago. Catching it at the bloom stage costs a fraction of what pitting and steel repair cost later.
